Myofascial release means muscle and fascial release—the muscles and the connective tissue supporting the muscles and bones. Myofascial release is a type of massage specifically focused on breaking up adhesions (sticky areas) in the fascial layer of the body and improving the quality of the connective tissue.
We all experience trauma and respond to it in a very basic biological way. Come learn about the nature of fascia, our bodies' ability to store and release responses to trauma, and ways we can support ourselves though hands-on and self-myofascial release techniques.
Christine has been teaching Yin yoga with myofascial release for over three years. In this 2 hour long workshop she shares how to improve the quality of the connective tissue through a series of self-release techniques with various tools, as well as hands-on partner work. She'll tell us how to identify fascial adhesions and how to support emotional, mental, and spiritual responses to relase trauma through bodywork.
Tennis balls and a short handout about fascia, will be provided, you may want to bring a pen and notebook. The cost is US$30 and can be paid here online or in cash at the studio. If you are not paying online please write [email protected] to register and confirm your attendance.
